  • the realm of the dead has been exhumed and is invading

    • contested memories happen in the present

    • excavation

    • looking for points of departure

    • positive re-inheritance

      • repurposing inheritance

  • critical targets of romanticism surround the egotistical sublime of solitary contemplation in wilderness

    • as in ideas of inherent or transcendent value where a trace of the “divine” is revealed

    • as in the construction of "nature" as an object of human nature with exploitable results rather than as a collective entity with which humans are intimately interconnected

  • Hacking those traditions of contemplation as a rebellion against objectifying and instrumentalizing reconfiguration of the christian inheritance in contemplation into ‘wise passiveness’ and attending the ‘mighty sum of things’ and wonder without an attempt to pin it down as an underpinning for political engagement.

  • Wise passiveness: "into the light of things" a poetic swerve away from expectation where the poem itself resists comprehension

  • Tim Lilburn's conceptualization of decolonization...the work of the colonizer, to not "show up empty-handed", showing up with European counter-traditions to develop and "share some understandings" and grow "kindred plant and animal nations": post-imperial world can not be achieved by invention but by retrieval of lost pieces, interiority and contemplation as the "germ", overcoming hegemony (of even human/nonhuman relations)

  • Mindfulness within extinction rebellion (e.g. christian, non-violent direct action) as "a mode of comportment essential in political engagement"

  • Material trans-corporeality and environmentality VS a normalized quazi-disembodied mind, where immunity to environment and the way we are affected by the spaces and places we find ourselves in is deeply incorporated into our sense of self.
